“WAILING FOR CHRIS” @ THE BRIDGE HOTEL, ROZELLE

Chris Blanchflower blowing harp

Come and celebrate the life and times of one of the great harmonica players, Chris Blanchflower – best known for his contributions to Greg Quill’s band, Country Radio. He played in many different ensembles over the years and also did some great sessions work. Chris passed away in February this year.

Chris was also a walking encyclopaedia of Country, Blues, Folk, Rock and Jazz.

Always ready to lend a hand to a friend in need or “have a blow” with any musicians that were playing any place, any time. No gig too small. Having Chris play harp in your band was like having Eric Clapton sit in on guitar.

A Hot House Band has been assembled for the night by Kerryn Tolhurst (lap steel guitar, Dobro, mandolin – Country Radio; The Dingoes) and Kevin Bennett (guitar and vocals – The Flood; Chasin’ The Train).

Joined by (in alphabetical order): Glenn Cardier (vocals, guitar – solo performer; Bel-Aires; GC & The Sideshow); Lloyd G (drums – The Atlantics; Dave Warner; Perry Keyes; Christine Anu; Tina Arena; Fuschia; sessions and many bands); Peter Head (keyboards – Headband; Mount Lofty Rangers; sessions and many bands); Christian Marsh (chromatic and diatonic harmonica – sessions, musicals and many bands); Nick Meredith (guitar – Johnny G and the E-types; sessions; musicals and many bands); Stan Mobbs (bass – Foreday Riders; Mal Eastick Band, and Chris Saxton (guitar – sessions and many bands).

The concert will feature guests Rex Goh (guitar – Air Supply; Tommy Emmanuel Band; many musicals; sessions and many bands ); Jeff Mallia (bass- Mallia Lutherie and authorised Australian repairman for Taylor guitars); Peter Pik (fingerpicking artist – Tommy Emmanuel Note-For-Note transcriptions); Spasm Band Members; Chris E Thomas (vocals – solo performer; sessions; Tina Arena & Olympics; Forces Entertainment Egypt & Afghanistan); and other guests on the night.
