‘URZA AND THE SONG IN THE DARK’ FROM MATRIARK. GIVEAWAY

Urza and the Song in the Dark

Join the world-builders at Matriark Theatre on an adventure deep down underground at the Sydney Fringe.

In URZA AND THE SONG IN THE DARK, a mysterious song leads a young girl on an adventure into the depths of the earth. Along the way she befriends a lost explorer, gets pursued by an ancient dark force and finds herself caught up in a primeval story of myth and legend.

Shadow and song combine to tell this intimate story.

URZA AND THE SONG IN THE DARK is presented by physical performers and puppeteers working in hand-rendered, shadow projections, with live music from a host of quirky instruments. All this comes together to tell an amazing adventure story all contained in a space only 3m2.

Young audiences will be able to sit up close to the action while puppets fly above their heads and performers play within touching distance.

Ambition, power and humanity’s connection to this planet are all explored as Urza seeks to escape from the caves under her city. Through playful and exciting storytelling Matriark will gently encourage young audiences to ask: How can I live in harmony with nature and the world around me?

Tender and whimsical, offbeat and a little bit scary, Urza and the Song in the Dark an original and unique work for young and old. This show is perfect for children ages 8+ but will appeal to anyone with
a wild imagination.
