The opening film is SWEETIE YOU WONT BELIEVE IT, and once seen, you probably wont. It’s about a fishing trip that boasts an unbelievable excuse of why the catch was non existent. A small fry trio of incompetents meet a similar group of miscreants, the latter hell bent on the former’s destruction after the witnessing of a murder. Add to this calamitous concoction a sole deranged soul, the embodiment of disembowelling and beheading.

Rom com gets a wake up make over with the simultaneously woke and the kiss and muck up SWEETHURT, a boy meets girl boy loses girl tale with same sex tensions, stranger dangers, and a pirate cab driver who drives with a sulphur crested cockatoo on his shoulder and has a trunk load of womens clothes in the boot.
No trope of the slasher genre is left unturned in AN IDEAL HOST, a schlock horror Australian version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
A fast-paced, highly original low budget masterpiece of Australian Independent Cinema, AN IDEAL HOST turns a carefully choreographed dinner party into a frenzied feed for all when intergalactic gelatinous funnel-webs plot to infest their ideal human hosts. OTT and LOL watch it sipping a cola spider.
The fortieth anniversary of Walerian Borowcyzk’s THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYL & MISS OSBOURNE can be celebrated. Not a patch on Warhol’s Flesh for Frankenstein or Blood for Dracula, it nevertheless boasts the appearance of Udo Kier as Dr. Jekyl and the marvellous Patrick McGee in his final screen role.
An absolute highlight of the festival is SHIT & CHAMPAGNE, D’Arcy Drollinger’s droll dragsploitation extravaganza in which he stars as stripper and serial divorcee, Champagne Horowitz Jones Dickerson White, hot on her high heels after Dixie Stampede, evil master mind behind the largest drug, sex and after school wear empire in the state.
With product placement for Cameltoe cigarettes and Felchers Instant Coffee, a stripper who strips band aids, potty mouth puns, cunning linguistic tongue twisters – what could possibly possess a person to poop themselves in a public place – and character names like Alaska Thunderfuck, the dish runs away with the spoon and John Water’s eats his heart out.
