Dear valued audience member,

In this difficult and trying period, things are quickly changing as we move to combat the spread of COVID-19. Our first and foremost hope is that you and your families are safe and well.

Many of you would have seen the NSW Government announcement yesterday of a Public Health Order banning indoor mass gatherings of more than 100 people until 16 June 2020. In accordance with this ban and with heavy hearts, we regret to announce the further cancellation of a number of Sydney Theatre Company productions. This now includes the seasons of three more of our plays: Triple XHome, I’m Darling; and The 7 Stages of Grieving. This announcement comes after our recent cancellation of the remaining performances of No Pay? No Way! at both Sydney Opera House and Riverside Theatres, Parramatta.

We are so very saddened to lose these shows, all of which we believe in so deeply. Please know, we are doing all we can to ensure these works return to our stages in the future, so that audiences can experience the brilliant work of our artists, crews, and craftspeople. It goes without saying, however, that the health and wellbeing of our audience, employees and the community at large is and always will be our first priority.

Many of you will have purchased tickets to one or all of these productions. We will be in contact with ticket holders with a range of options to return their ticket including a refund, credit, or a tax-deductible donation of your ticket cost. We are incredibly grateful to our patrons who have already chosen to donate their cancelled No Pay? No Way! tickets back to us – already 28% of ticket holders have chosen to do so. Generosity like this, and any further donations from our loyal community, will be essential to mitigate the impact of this unprecedented crisis.

The next few months are uncertain for everyone and the timeline for when we will be back and operating at full capacity remains to be confirmed. What we do know is that theatre is a resilient artform, and as challenging as this period will be, theatre will endure and return stronger than ever.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to seeing you back in the theatre as soon as we can.

With all best wishes,

Kip Williams, Artistic Director
Patrick McIntyre, Executive Director
