ST GEORGE OPEN AIR CINEMA: TIX OPEN 11 DEC 2017

 

Last summer, St.George OpenAir Cinema welcomed more than 78,000 guests to the world’s most beautiful cinema, sharing some wonderful films and sunsets against the extraordinary harbour backdrop.

St.George OpenAir Cinema today unveils an extraordinary line up of films for its 22nd season, taking place at Mrs Macquaries Point from 7 January to 17 February 2018.

The 2018 program will feature a line-up of eighteen premiere and preview screenings, opening with the Australian Premiere of Steven Spielberg’s The Post (Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks). Other 2018 Oscar® contenders set to screen include Call Me By Your Name (Armie Hammer), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri (Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell), I, Tonya (Margot Robbie), The Shape of Water (Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon), Darkest Hour (Gary Oldman), Lady Bird (Saoirse Ronan), Molly’s Game (Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba) and Daniel Day-Lewis’ final film, Phantom Thread.

In addition, the program will showcase this summer’s most anticipated new releases, including The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams, Armando Iannucci’s The Death of Stalin, Matt Damon-starrer Downsizing and a preview of 50 Shades Freed, the third instalment in the worldwide phenomenon.

Audiences can also look forward to a second opportunity to see some of 2017’s best films with Only the Brave, Bladerunner 2049, Murder on the Orient Express, Battle of the Sexes, The Big Sick and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Other program highlights include the Australian Premiere of National Geographic’s highly anticipated documentary, Jane; Simon Baker’s coming-of-age directorial debut, Breath; and Warwick Thornton’s award-winning film, Sweet Country.

With more than 40,000 tickets selling in the first days of pre-sales for the 2017 season,  tickets are expected to be a hot commodity once again. Tickets will be on sale from 9am AEDT on Monday 11 December 2017 for the general public, with a limited number of tickets available to purchase at the door every evening of the season.
