SPRING LOADED : FAILED TO FIRE

SPRING LOADED  is the second play by Jon Glass. His first play ‘Entitled Transactions’, a four hander set in 1929, was performed at the Factory Theatre in 2018.

A 20 year high school reunion brings together an unlikely business partnership between a high school bully and his old target. The man who once made high school a misery somehow now holds exciting career prospects for the guy who once endured abuse at his hands. By their sides stand their devoted wives, both unwavering in their support, but for very different reasons.

The play focuses on six characters who each get more than they bargain for when a business partnership goes awry. What happens when relationships are compromised, and old habits really do die hard?

This was a very ordinary night at the theatre. There was nothing that stood out in the writing. The play felt a bit like a soapie and lacked theatrical flair. The direction and performances were passable.

There is one performance remaining of SPRING LOADED at the Factory Theatre, Marrickville on Saturday 22 May, 2021 at 7.30pm.

Benjamin Murray directed the production with Natasha Cheng Assistant Director and Set Designer.

The actors were Tahlia CrinisBenjamin Murray, Natasha ChengNeil Parikh, Garreth Cruikshank and Lauren Hayes.
