SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD – SOON FROM CANTERBURY THEATRE GUILD

It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back. SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD from Canterbury Theatre Guild explores the vibrant journeys through the life-changing moments that define us all, weaving characters, time periods and locations together into one extraordinary show.

The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.

Meg Day directs a talented and close-knit cast of community theatre veterans in just 6 shows, to be performed at Bankstown Arts Centre. The show is, says Meg, one that everyone can relate to.

Canterbury Theatre Guild was formed in 1977 following a request from Canterbury Municipal Council as part of its 150-year celebrations.  From its first concert, Christmas Night, in December 1978, Canterbury Theatre Guild has put on a lot of wonderful shows and introduced many people to the delights of musical theatre.

The group is a not-for-profit community based musical theatre group where members of the community are welcome to join and participate in putting on a musical, concert and/or cabaret once or twice a year.

A long-term lover of SFANW, Meg conceptualised her own unique vision of the show when she was just 17 years old. “It has definitely been refined a lot since then, but to finally get to bring it to life is awesome,” says Meg. “I also love how each performer is able to bring their own experiences and ideas to the table when creating the characters and staging the songs. This makes the experience much more personal and powerful.”

SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD will be presented by Canterbury Theatre Guild [Facebook] from July 6th at the Bankstown Arts Centre, Olympic Parade, Bankstown.  Tickets from TryBooking.
