SMASH HITS AND STEREOTYPES: BACK FOR THE FRINGE

When The Guide saw SMASH HITS AND STEREOTYPES last year we wanted it to have a life (SAG Review) and here it is back for this year’s Sydney Fringe.

It’s Flora’s 21st birthday, and she and her friends have rented a beach house for the weekend. Strong drinks, farcical misunderstandings, intellectual debates, broken hearts, and catchy songs abound in SMASH HITS AND STEREOTYPES. This is a theatrical show that fuses together the musical, the ’90s slacker movie, noise rock, and Mozartean opera. The characters will confront chaos, creation, sex, cosmic entropy, and cake!

SMASH HITS AND STEREOTYPES was written, produced and directed by Ludwig van Distortion and Coco Grainger, the duo who recently brought you the gloriously offensive, “uber-intellectual” (quote from Dr. Holly) music-drama TYRANNO. As Distortion Forever they have produced three original pieces of musical theatre in two years - and they both hate musicals!

The reworked and revamped SMASH HITS AND STEREOTYPES from Distortion Forever [Facebook] will play 12-19 September at The Newsagency: 74-76 Pyrmont Bridge Road, Annandale NSW 2038.
