Retro Films for Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre

Classic films!  Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC) has announced its bumper program of film for 2018. CPAC will screen the very best of cultural film festivals, vibrantly remastered classics, international favourites, and everything in between.

Get ready for a star-studded trip down memory lane and Oscar legends galore, with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds’ incredible performances in Singin’ In The Rain, and Judy Garland as Dorothy in the perennial favourite, The Wizard of Oz. If that wasn’t enough, we’ll also be screening An American In Paris, which won a staggering six Academy Awards, including Best Picture!” said CPAC Director Craig Donarski.

The CPAC program includes: Sydney Film Festival’s Retro Screening Series, showcasing seminal musicals from Hollywood’s Golden Age (12 Apr. – 8 Nov.); the Alliance Française French Film Festival (5 Apr. – 8 Apr.); the Italian Film Series (21 Mar. – 1 Nov.), and the Pasifika Film Fest (13 – 16 Sept.).

Sydney Film Festival’s Retro Screening Series:
An American In Paris
Thursday 12 April | 11AM 
Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron sing and dance to the music of George and Ira Gershwin in An American In Paris, winner of six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Screenplay and Music.

The Wizard of Oz  
Sunday 13 May | 11AM 
 A young farm girl and her little dog are magically transported into the enchanted Land of Oz via a Kansas tornado.

Singin’ In The Rain  
Thursday 8 November | 11AM 
Frequently regarded as one of the best musicals ever made, if not the best film ever made, Gene Kelly stars in this timeless classic about a silent film production company making a difficult transition to sound.
