Nigella Lawson: A Celebration of Home Cooking

Following a sold-out Opera House appearance in 2016, the woman who put the pleasure back into food, Nigella Lawson, returns to the Concert Hall stage on Sunday 21 January 2018 for an evening of delectable conversation.

Nigella’s Opera House appearance coincides with the launch of her first book in two years, At My Table, a celebration of mouth-watering and inventive home cooking. At My Table abounds in recipes that are at once inspirational and comforting, from new riffs on signature dishes to the classics of tomorrow.

Over the course of the evening, Nigella will share advice and anecdotes from her book and life with her trademark wit, warmth and wisdom. “This book, like all the books I’ve written and all the cookery books I’ve read, is not just a manual, but a collection of stories and a container of memories”, she said.

Nigella Lawson has written ten bestselling cookery books over a two-decade career, including the classics How to Eat and How To Be A Domestic Goddess – the book that inspired a whole new generation. These books, together with her TV series – Nigella Bites, Nigella Feats and Nigella Express – have made her a household name around the world. Her new six-part television series, NigellaAt My Table, premiered on Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel on 6 December.

Edwina Throsby, Head of Talks and Ideas at the Sydney Opera House, says “As someone who spends about 80% of my life thinking about food, the chance to hear Nigella’s thoughts and stories makes me supremely happy, and I’m so pleased that Sydneysiders can share this wonderful opportunity.”

Over the past six years, Sydney Opera House’s year-round Talks & Ideas program has featured sold-out appearances by some of the biggest names in the contemporary food world including Chez Panisse’s Alice Waters, Noma founder Rene Redzepi, Jonathan Safran Foer, Michael Pollan, culinary wunderkind Yotam Ottolenghi, and food superstar Jamie Oliver.
