MIDNIGHT OIL 1984

The highly anticipated Ray Argall directed, 89 minute documentary “Midnight Oil 1984” is finally in Australian Cinemas with a limited run from Thursday 10th May 2018. In late 1984, film-maker Ray Argall spent three months on the road, following Midnight Oil with a film camera, shooting around 16 hours worth of film footage, including many candid moments. Highly recommended.

Relive the need for change in the environmental/political messages buried within the passionate lyrics of the massive huge hits of Midnight Oil, and its lead singer Peter Garrett’s first attempt in 1984 to go into federal politics, with the Nuclear Disarmament Party (NDP). The power of rock-music to agitate for societal change, by passionately communicating new ideas to young people, is brilliantly contained within this documentary, ready to inspire a new generation, our millennials.

Fans will appreciate that many hit songs are included, now with studio quality digital music. An incredible wealth of previously unseen filmed footage of Midnight Oil live performances, as taken during 1984 and beyond, at multiple venues, from the launch of the tour for the album “Red Sails in the Sunset”. Experience first hand all that is Midnight Oil and the legendary power of rock-star Peter Garrett, and his unique connection with the fans, at each and every venue.

There is so much song footage, where you can watch Peter Garrett’s clothes constantly change again and again, during most songs. Includes songs played at the massive concerts in Sydney’s Capitol Theatre plus in The Domain, and Melbourne’s Myer Music Bowl. Aspect Ratio 1.75:1 Widescreen with Australian Classification rated M (course language).
