JABBELOUP

JAPPELOUP  tells the story of an Olympic champion show jumper who scored spectacular success in Seoul.

Written and starring Guillaume Canet as Pierre Durand the equestrian who ditched a career at the bar to raise the bar of elite steed leaping, JAPPELOUP really is about continuing to get back on the horse, literally and metaphorically.

Saddling up in support roles are Daniel Auteuil as Pierre’s pa, who encouraged his son’s passion for the ponies, Marie Bunel as his equally supportive ma, and Marina Hands as his supportive spouse. Not so supportive is Tcheky Karyo as Marcel Rozier, the team manager who becomes somewhat of a nemesis.

JAPPELOUP is a fascinating study of the trials and tribulations of elite sport, the relationship between man and horse, and Olympic politics. The show jumping sequences are spectacular, a winning combination of horse flesh and film narrative.
