World-renowned photography competition, Head On Photo Awards, is calling for entries for their four award categories.

Student: The Head On Student Prize is open to Australia’s young photographers, school years K-12.

Portrait: reflecting the essence of a person or group of people.

Landscape:  Part of this award is the 'NSW Parliament Prize' for an image depicting a NSW scene.

With a prize pool of over $60,000 up for grabs, photographers, creatives, amateurs and enthusiasts are encouraged to get their entries in to be a part of the awards at the Head On Photo Festival in May 2018.

The Head On Photo Awards represent a global selection of the best work from emerging and established photographers and presents an incredible opportunity for them to have their work showcased to thousands across Sydney and the world.

The Landscape, Portrait and Mobile prizes are open to international photographers from both classical and contemporary styles. The Head On Student Prize is open to Australia’s young photographers, school years K-12.

In line with Head On’s philosophy of inclusivity and fairness, a panel of highly esteemed judges will review each entry on an anonymous basis to ensure each work is judged purely on artistic merit. Judges include contemporary photographers, international picture editors and curators of major institutions. Some of this year’s judges include New York Times Picture Editor Mikko Takkunen and conflict photographer Paula Bronstein.

Entries are open now and close Sunday 25 February 2018.

Winners will be announced at Head On Photo Festival’s opening night (4 May at UNSW Art and Design) and exhibited at the Festival Hub in Paddington and NSW Parliament House during the Festival.

Running from Saturday 5 – Sunday 20 May 2018, Head On Photo Festival is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious photo festivals. Since it began in 2010 the Festival has evolved to include a wide range of stunning exhibitions from world renowned photographers, innovative workshops run by international professionals and critically acclaimed mentors and community events aimed at everyone from enthusiasts and devout collectors.
