GIRLS TO THE FRONT EXHIBITION @ BANKSTOWN ARTS CENTRE

GIRLS TO THE FRONT is a group exhibition featuring three contemporary female visual artists from Western Sydney exploring urban art.

Exhibiting Artists:

Tiera Boo is a stencil artist who, using delicate details, showcases layers of hand-cut stencils and vibrant colours. Her work often follows the themes of identity, desire, emancipation and feminist discourse.

Karen Farmer, an internationally recognised Sydney-based artist, uses painting as a linchpin where her surfaces become as important as the imagery. She is known for her oil and acrylic paintings of street art and graffiti scenes, as well as her ‘Bad Magpie’ artworks featuring the iconic Australian bird.

Christina Huynh, an illustrator and designer, enjoys visually telling stories that reflect her life and finds inspiration in human emotion, personality and heritage.

Collaborating artist:

Donna Sgro is a fashion and textile designer and lecturer in the School of Design, University of Technology Sydney. Her fashion and textiles design practice explore creative pattern cutting inspired by natural ecologies and insects. She is most well-known for her work with Morphotex, a world-first in biomimetic fibre technology.

The exhibition will also include a special collaboration between stencil artist Tiera Boo and fashion designer Donna Sgro.
