GABBI LANCASTER’S JADE @ m2 GALLERY SURRY HILLS

Sanctuary
SANCTUARY

This is a solo exhibition by artist Gabbi Lancaster which  commemorate the Moreton Bay fig trees of Sydney. Jade is an expression of the artist’s love and respect for nature, highlighting the magnificence, beauty and vulnerability of trees and the birds that rely on them.

The collection captures the detail and majesty of the Moreton Bay Fig trees of Anzac Parade and Randwick. The unnecessary destruction of these significant trees, by the NSW government, has compelled the artist to spend many hours under their canopies, leading to the creation of these works.

One of the paintings, Sanctuary, was awarded the Mayoral Prize at the ‘Trees for Life’ exhibition at Randwick council in April this year.

Gabbi Lancaster is an artist living in Sydney, the first twenty years of her art practice has focused on figurative drawing and painting. Her current works express the connection and unity between the human form and forms in nature and landscape.
