FREUD’S LAST SESSION @ RIVERSIDE THEATRE PARRAMATTA

On 20th August 2013 went to the Opening Night of FREUD’S LAST SESSION at The Theatre Royal, Sydney.

Yes very clever play, and is well remembered, plus in March 2022 you now have an unique opportunity to experience a very very entertaining fiction, and this superb new version of the play, is a must see. Highly Recommended.

FREUD’S LAST SESSION is set on Sunday 3rd of September 1939, the day that the United Kingdom enters what will become known as The Second World War. Two days earlier, at dawn on Friday 1st of September 1939, Germany had invaded Poland. Legendary psychoanalyst – Dr. Sigmund Freud – has invited – C.S. Lewis – to his home in London. Freud and Lewis clash intensely and passionately, about a whole world of ideas that includes love, sex, the existence of God, and the meaning of life, etc etc etc.

The cast is superb and at all times, they are very believable in their portrayals, with finely timed direction, plus the props and the set is designed to easily indicate that the year is 1939 and the location is – Freud’s study at 20 Maresfield Gardens, Hampstead, NW London, England.

After the play, the audience further extended the intellectual discussion as delivered by the play. In particular the current events in Ukraine versus Putin, were quickly compared to Poland versus Hitler, and Putin bombing maternity hospitals in Ukraine to kill women and their children, including infants, babies and pregnant women.
