DKL Productions presents SEX AND DEATH @ BLOOD MOON THEATRE

DKL Productions presents SEX AND DEATH @ BLOOD MOON THEATRE. Directed by Garreth Cruikshank, two unique one-act plays SOMETHING IN THE BASEMENT written by Don Nigro, and then the world premiere of IT’S TIME written by Garreth Cruikshank. Two very well written interesting message pieces about relationships, that engaged and entertained, especially as both had great twists.

SOMETHING IN THE BASEMENT. We meet the very unhappily married couple in their bedroom, Mary and Philip. They are arguing about sex, and she repeatedly says “Don’t bother me” however he actually asks for sex. Comedy great, Les Dawson famously said “My wife is a sex object. Every time I ask for sex, she objects.” But this unfolding clever drama, has loud noises in their basement. He wants to come, she does not want him to come. He investigates the basement. She investigates the basement. The basement has an erotic hold on Mary. How will Phillip decide to cure Mary of her fixation on the basement? Amateur Production By Arrangement with ORiGiN Theatrical.

IT’S TIME. Election Night, Saturday 2nd December 1972. Mrs O’Brien and her son Patrick are preparing for his 21st birthday party, and are hoping for a change of government from William McMahon to Gough Whitlam. However there are dark secrets to be revealed, because Mrs O’Brien needs to confess because her son is now a man. She has hidden from her son, the Domestic Violence inflicted on her by her now long gone alcoholic husband. This play by using measured flashbacks from her married life, reveals the patriarchal Australian Society over the last two hundred years at its worst. During the last two hundred years the agony of silence required to be suffered by Australian Married Women. Alcoholism used to excuse violence from husband to wife, and the no-divorce sanctity of Catholic Marriage.
