DAMIEN MARCH’S ‘DYNAMISM ‘ @ THE ARO GALLERY

Fresh from his successful Beverly Hills exhibition, international mixed media artist Damien March returns with “dynamism” a new collection of work at Aro gallery from January 6th – 20th.
March’s work was recently acquired by and features in the LA collections of the Altman brothers, Thunder Road Pictures and in the board room of Rodeo Reality. Architecture from around the world is March’s inspiration, he gives prominence through traditional expression and uses unique techniques and materials.

March expressively depicts urban surroundings in “Dynamism” with a distinctive style, thick impasto gestures contrast with delicate paint blends. Skilful application and manipulation of media is seen on all paint surfaces creating depth and movement. March aims “to create a unique visual experience through contrasts of both materials and techniques, having robust neo-expressionistic strokes against exquisite brush work”.

Various materials are apparent throughout March’s style, acrylic, resin, pumice, sand and ink help create a push and pull effect over the canvas surface. March uses rough textured sand against gleaming resin to create a compelling aesthetic. Emphasised powerful line work, distorted perspective and creative compositions resonate through March’s exhibition.

“Dynamism” delves into the psyche of the world’s great cities, to give elevation, visualising March’s own life narrative in an exclusive explosion of colour and technique.

‘Dynamism’  runs from Monday 6th January until Monday January 20th, 2020 at the ARO Gallery, 51 William Street, Darlinghurst.  Exhibition hours are 12-7pm daily and  there will be an opening opening night on Friday 17th January 2020.
