CAROLINE GIBBES ‘TURNING HEADS’ @ THE ARTHOUSE GALLERY

TURNING HEADS is a playful and satirical glimpse at life, skilfully created by Caroline Gibbes through her art. Working with clay and bright glassy glazes, Gibbes’ takes us on a whimsical journey showcasing her unique and authentic approach to ceramics. This, her first solo exhibition of hand-built ceramics, highlights a dynamic and sophisticated style that stands-out and commands your attention.

Caroline’s head turning characters are a manifestation of her thoughts and feelings, literally exploding out of her head and hands to turn-out the works on display.

Emerging from a creative background in jewellery, fashion and interior design in Australia and South East Asia, Caroline’s experience shows-up gracefully in her sculptures. Experimenting with this medium has helped her to express her emotions through her art, taking on board the vital importance of humour in our changing times.

Caroline Gibbes’ TURNING HEADS is on view at the Arthouse Gallery, 66 McLachlan Avenue Rushcutters Bay until 18 August 2018.
