After more than seven months, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra makes a triumphant return to the stage with two concerts. In December, the Orchestra will perform their much-loved Noël! Noël! concerts in Sydney and Melbourne, and in January, as part of Sydney Festival, they will collaborate with Circa Contemporary Circus for the vibrant Italian Baroque with Circa.
Co-founder & Artistic Director Paul Dyer said: “We cannot wait to return to the stage with these two luminous concerts that truly encapsulate the joy of live music. Noël! Noël! is always an exciting concert to perform each year, offering the gift of song and joyful reunion which feels so relevant right now.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to collaborate with the extremely talented performers of Circa for a concert that is going to wow audiences. Originally scheduled to take place as part of our 2021 Season, but unable to go ahead due to lockdown, we’re so thrilled that this concert can happen as part of the dynamic Sydney Festival program. We’ll take you on a rollicking ride through the Italian Baroque with the vivacious Brandenburg period musicians and Circa’s energetic acrobats. We can’t wait to see you back in the concert hall this summer!”
One of the most popular Brandenburg traditions, Noël! Noël! celebrates the holiday season with a program offering a uniquely Australian spin on familiar carols, and surprises from Artistic Director Paul Dyer. The orchestra and choir will perform divine hymns and joyful excerpts from Handel’s Messiah on period instruments at Sydney’s City Recital Hall from 11 – 15 December before travelling to Melbourne, the first national performing arts company to do so since the lockdowns, to perform at Melbourne Recital Centre on 18 December.
From 19 – 27 January at City Recital Hall, the Orchestra collaborates for the fourth time with internationally acclaimed contemporary circus company Circa for Italian Baroque with Circa as part of Sydney Festival. The concert will take audiences through the music of four Italian cities and their multi-layered pasts. Daring new choreography from circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz combines musicians and acrobats in a vibrant performance of music by Vivaldi, Falconieri, Caccini and Corelli.
The Brandenburg are working closely with venues to adhere to COVID-Safe guidelines and ensure a safe environment for all. Further information can be found HERE.
