ARTS AND THEATRE DOWNTURN EXPECTED AFTER THE PANDEMIC

A survey by Audience Outlook Monitor has found that there has been a limited appetite for the arts as a result of the Covid pandemic. The survey predicts that almost one in six people said that they would go to fewer cultural activities after the pandemic whilst only seven per cent expected to attend more events.

This may result in more empty seats in theatres and more space in galleries and museums for some time to come.

Just as there has been a loss of appetite for discretionary  spending in the retail sector. it is expected that there will be a parallel loss in the theatre and arts sectors.
