The new Australian film  GIRL ASLEEP has been  billed as, ‘a journey into the absurd, scary and beautiful heart of the teenage mind.’

Bethany Whitmore plays the lead character Greta Driscoll who is about to turn fifteen. Greta  is fearful of leaving her childhood behind, it contained all the things that gave her comfort.

Greta is living in a world of boredom with her only friend Elliott, played by Harrison Feldman, until her parents throw her a surprise 15th birthday party and she is flung into a parallel place, a place a little violent and ludicrous, which propels her out of her comfort zone.

GIRL ASLEEP is based on the very popular stage play of the same name by the highly regarded Windmill Theatre Company. GIRL ASLEEP won the best film award at  the 2016 Seattle Film Festival.

The Guardian described the film as, ‘morphing from 1970s pop nostalgia into a fantastical fable of growing up’.

GIRL ASLEEP is another fine addition to what has proved to be a strong year for Australian filmmaking. An Umbrella Entertainment production, GIRL ASLEEP will screen in cinemas from  Thursday September 1.

Sydney Arts Guide is delighted to announce that it has 10 double passes to giveaway to see the film during its Sydney season.
