UNCOVERED : MAKING A WORK OF ART

From the 15th to the 29th April artist-run gallery and studio Project [504] will host an eye-opening exhibition, in which five award-winning emerging artists tell the story of their latest works, offering a sneak peek into their artistic processes and inviting the public to attend several open portrait sessions.

Helen Connolly, Sean Hutton, Christina Rogers, Michael Simms and Lucy West-Sooby forged a connection as scholarship winners at the legendary Julian Ashton Art School, and have gone on to find success as sought after commission painters and finalists in major prizes such as the Manning Regional Art Prize, The Gallipoli Art Prize and the Cambridge Studio Gallery Portrait Prize, to name just a few.

As part of the exhibition, the artists will hold open portrait sittings on Thursday the 21st of April and Tuesday the 26th of April between 12 and 7pm. Participants will have the opportunity to sit for an hour-long ‘alla prima’ portrait, with the option of purchasing the work, or simply enjoying the experience of being painted by a professional artist.

The group enthusiastically invite the public to enjoy the live music and entertainment of the opening night on Friday 15th April from 5:30-9pm, as well as the open portrait events. The exhibition will close on Friday 29th April.

Gallery Hours are Mondays to Fridays between 11am and 5pm. Weekends are by appointment.

Project [504] is situated at 504 Pacific Highway, St Leonards.
