TOSCA @ INDEPENDENT THEATRE NORTH SYDNEY

Tosca- inset

TOSCA is a tour de force opera, delivering sweeping, lush orchestration and intense drama.

Puccini’s melodrama thrusts a volatile opera diva, a sadistic, lustful yet sophisticated head of police, and an idealistic artist to collide head on.

Audiences often find this opera challenging with its stark contrast of beauty, disgust, love, violence and heroism. It is this very conflict of extremes, however, which aims to define the fabric of our humanity.

This production is a first time collaboration between two exciting Opera companies, Opera Van Diemensland and Sydney Independent Opera. TOSCA promises to be an exciting evening at the Opera featuring great talent, a fine orchestra and some striking audio visual design. Steven Stanke will be in the conductor’s chair, and the show will feature Opera Australia regulars; Anna-Louise Cole as TOSCA, Sitiveni Talei as SCARPIA & Martin Buckingham as CAVARADOSSI.

There will only be three performances of this TOSCA all taking place this week:- this Thursday evening at 7.30pm, this Saturday evening at 7.30pm and a matinee this coming Sunday at 2.30pm. For bookings- http://www.theindependent.org.au.
