SYDNEY DESIGN FESTIVAL AT MAAS

The Sydney Design Festival is coming up March 2- 11 at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Powerhouse Museum.  With a huge array of speakers, exhibition and their MAASIVE LATES there is something for everyone.

The MAASive Lates program is Thursday 8th of March and it is a free event which allows you to explore the Powerhouse after hours  and experience the Museum in a whole new light with a celebration of women in design for International Women’s Day and Sydney Design Festival.  Meet experts, get creative with a range of hands-on activities, tour exhibitions and chat with curators in this huge night of design.

On Friday 9th and Saturday 10th comedian and self-proclaimed design nerd Tim Ross examines the fascinating stories of some of our invisible icons of Australian design. You will never look at a stackhat in the same way again!

His new exhibition is Design Nation and Tim’s inventive take on architecture and design has seen him win an AWGIE award for his ABC TV series Streets of Your Town and a National Trust Award for his acclaimed live show Man About the House. In 2016 he was asked to speak at the opening of the London Design Museum, and 2018 sees his Design Nation exhibition open at the Powerhouse Museum.

Other events for the Sydney Design Festival including an Indigenous Design SymposiumPamm Hong’s: Watermelon Sugar and  Sydney Design Festival’s keynote event, a fascinating evening with OMA architect David Gianotten.
