SCULPTURE BY THE SEA : NOW IN ITS 21ST YEAR

The 21st ‘Coming Of Age’ annual Sculpture By The Sea has welcomed work from 104 sculptors from 15 countries around the world. Since its inception, 1272 sculptors have exhibited on the Bondi-Tamarama coastal walk. One of the sculptors, Orest Keywan, has exhibited every year since 1998.

At the launch of this year’s Sculpture By The Sea on Thursday 19th October at Marks Park a number of awards were handed out. The Aqualan Sculpture Award worth $60,000 was won by David Ball of Bowral for his sculpture Orb.  Helen  Lempriere’s   scholarships of $30,000 were presented to Hame Fasher of Oberon, Julie Gough of Hobart and Ron Robertson-Swann of Sydney.

The Transfield Australian Invited Artist Program of $15,000 each went to James Dive of New South Wales and Ken Unsworth AM also from New South Wales.

The Aqualand Sculpture Award was presented by Alex Adams of Aqualand and the Helen Lempriere Scholarships were handed out by Scott Hawker from Perpetual.

As well as the outdoor sculptures miniature maquettes of all the works can be viewed in a large cupboard marque, particularly handy should the weather turn inclement.

SCULPTURE BY THE SEA runs until the 5th November.
