You really should see Trygve Wakenshaw’s NAUTILUS playing as part of the Sydney festival because it is hilarious, clever, artful and probably the funniest thing you will see all year.
But that’s it really. The stream of consciousness mimetic, frenetic, athletic aesthetic of his work does rather leave one bent over speechless. I’ve seen him before and was speechless.
So, go and see NAUTILUS , then come back and do the quiz I have prepared for you. Just a warning though, in the true spirit of the deceptively anarchic, there may be more than one answer.
Why did the chicken …… Because it could It doesn’t know either It was escaping a bad marriage
What was on the pistolero’s face when his bullet escaped? Apology to audience for the time of travel Tragic trajectory Sneer, snarl and all round bad guy
Why did the kids in the audience catch the love story before the adults? It takes adults way too long to overcome disbelief They deal with parent's lunacy There is a child-like grandeur on stage
Is that the cleverest story trapped in a glass box … ever? Yep Sure is Damn this guy is good!
That was a dastardly trick the game hunter played on his prey. Why did he do it? I blame the parents I blame the teachers I blame the government
Are the scenes connected by crazy ass music and weird dancing? Hard to tell … eyes full from laughing Chicken dance? It was Midnight and I was all alone
How would you describe the bar scene? Cud-derly Udderly hilarious Moo-d altering
Was David done like a dinner? Yep but he deserved it More palatable than the boy in the blender Cue wedding type death march
Who are you? A natural womaaan When you’re a Jet, you’re a jet all the way J C Superstar
Is this bloke completely insane? No human could do it better Insane means insane Watch out … he’s infectious
