At a packed Cell Block theatre last night Griffin Theatre Company’s very vibrant Artistic Director Lee Lewis announced that five great new Australian plays will premiere as part of Griffin’s 2016 Season.

Lewis said, “These five new stories will help us make sense of the ever changing world we live in or to escape it, to question our beliefs or to reaffirm them, to expose our fears or to face them, to make us laugh, to make us remember, to challenge us to be better than we are. Five new productions built from the best scripts, by the best directors, designers and actors in the country.”

One of these  five plays will see Griffin joining forces with Bell Shakespeare to bring audiences a very Special Event, The Literati. Adapted, inspired, translated and re-invented from Molière this brings the rhyming talents of Australia’s most linguistically dexterous playwright, Justin Fleming on to the SBW Stables stage with a champagne comedy to warm the winter nights.

Griffin  is once again offering its popular Earlybird Subscription in 2016– subscribers get four Main Season shows for $136 plus additional Special Events and Independent Season shows at discounted prices if patrons book online before 21 September 2015.

Standard Subscriptions are also terrific value, ranging from $96 – $180 (with a new discounted package for under 35s) and are packed with additional benefits including free drinks, ticket exchanges, exclusive subscriber ‘Meet the Artists’ events and Mates Rates (bring your friends at discounted prices).
