Fifty Shades of Grey

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

Fifty Shades of Grey-52

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY – all tied up – what happened to all the hot sex?

This muted Hollywood adaptation has been created from the pedestrian prose of the kink-themed bestselling sado-masochistic book, that had become a global phenomenon, and is expected to provide box office domination.

Hollywood has finely crafted this tale, concerning psychopath Mr. Grey’s unusual behaviour, covering his singular taste in sexual fantasy, providing seduction to obtain female submission, and of course the mainstay of the erotic book, fetishism.

There are far less sex scenes than in the book, and they do not sizzle and all were in no way titillating, and certainly all are not as explicit as the book.  As for creating erotic atmosphere, the movie is greatly enhanced by the music score composed by Danny Elfman plus at the end of the movie, it completely relies upon Beyonce’s song.

The depictions in the book, and the visual presentations in the movie, of the fetishes of bondage and domination, clearly is indicative of the authors’ childhood traumas, rather than adult fetishes of B&D and S&M. Even though FIFTY SHADES OF GREY has no literary value, why have many women read the book?  When not consensual, these fetishes when done by a man to a women, are  called “domestic violence”.

Of special note in the book and in the movie, that Mr. Grey’s “playroom” of riding crops, whips, floggers, bondage ropes  and the other accoutrements of corporal punishment, is a a strangely confused non-interpretation of precisely what can be found in the “playroom” of a dominatrix.

The kinky billionaire bachelor, the narcissist control freak Mr. Christian Grey, is looking for a new submissive female sex slave, despite the the Emancipation Proclamation in the USA in 1863 preventing slavery of any kind.

At the end of the screening, there were many in the audience who suddenly started laughing, waking up those who yawned themselves to sleep.  All that laughter was an excellent release for the lengthy punishment of having watched the movie whilst tittering, sniggling, gigling, snickering, eyes glazing over, eyes rolling with disbelief, and constant squirming in your seat.
