ARCHIBALD PRIZE UPDATE: PEOPLE’S CHOICE AND YOUNG ARCHIE WINNERS ANNOUNCED

As if saving the best for last, the Prize that keeps on giving- the Archibald welcomed more winners into its fold.

This week, the People’s Choice Prize was awarded to Sydney artist and Archibald Prize veteran Nick Stathopoulos with his hyper-real portrait of Sudanese refugee and lawyer, Deng Adut.

Young Archies had to wait till now as well for the announcement. The winners were Alexander Bennett’s piece Untitled in the 5 to 8 year olds:-

Mikael Woo’s piece Untitled  was the winner in the 9 to 12 year olds:-

Olivia Lee’s piece Untitled was the winner of the 13 to 15 year olds:-

There were 2,249 entries in this fourth Young Archie competition. The honorable mentions are on display at the S H Ervin Gallery on Observatory Hill.

Art lovers have until 9th October to see the newly crowned victors at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
